In Destiny 2, the guns can roll with a variety of perks that change how the gun behaves. These perks can help a gun be amazing, or they can be pretty irrelevant. It can be pretty hard to determine what the best perks are for a weapon. Here are some helpful tips for deciding for yourself the best perks to strive for on your weapon.

Damage Perks

On most weapons, you can’t go wrong with some sort of damage perk. The only real-time that I hate to see them is if I get perks that require kills such as Multi-Kill clip, Kill-Clip, or Rampage on something like a Sniper, Shotgun, or a Linear Fusion Rifle. These weapons do not need these perks, so they are wasted.

Examples: Rampage, Kill Clip, Multi-Kill Clip

Reload Perks

Another stat that most weapons would do well with being increased. You can't go wrong with increased reload speed, the less time you spend reloading means that you can spend more time shooting, which is always good.

Examples: Outlaw, Feeding Frenzy, Rapid Hit

Ability Regen

Another perk set that you really can’t go wrong with on most weapon types. Being able to use your grenades, class ability, and melee ability is always awesome. These usually roll on Primary weapons or Heavy Machine Guns, definitely keep an eye out for these.

Examples: Demolitionist, Wellspring

Other Perks

When trying to decide on what perks to farm for on a weapon, you need to do two things. First, go to light.gg and look up your weapon to find the list of perks it can obtain. Second, you need to look at the weapon and decide on what it is lacking, and what would make it better for what you need the weapon for. If it’s a Hand Cannon, you probably want Range, whereas stability would probably be fairly worthless. On an Auto-Rifle you would want Stability, or on a Sniper Rifle, you will want a larger magazine.
