With the release of the Beyond light expansion, Bungie has also released a new raid. This raid takes us into the Deep Stone Crypt, the birthplace of exos. This raid is very fun and one of the best that they have released so far, definitely top 5 in my opinion. The Deep Stone Crypt consists of four encounters that are fairly easy once you get the hang of them.

The goal of this article is to provide you with the best loadouts for completing the encounters for the current season, Season of the Hunt. I will also be providing alternatives for those that may not have the best of the best weapons since you do not necessarily need to adhere to the meta to complete the raid.

Why Listen To Me?

You may be wondering why you should take my advice. You have no way of knowing if my advice is trustworthy. I have 140 clears of the new raid, with a day one clear, a flawless clear, a couple of trio full clears, and a 17:47 full clear. These are not the most impressive stats, but they do indicate a level of experience and knowledge.

First Encounter (Security)

In this encounter, you will need some ad clear, something with overload, and a weapon do DPS 6 canisters that do not have crit spots.

Kinetic: Heritage (It doesn’t necessarily matter what you use in this slot, this is just the best option in my opinion.) If you don’t have Heritage I would recommend using your favorite Kinetic Sniper Rifle or Shotgun. Most of the Primary ammo Kinetic Weapons are bad and shouldn’t be used.

Energy: Ikelos SMG (Again, preference really. I like to use energy primaries and I love SMGs for ad clear, so with Ikelos being both, it’s perfect.) Fourth Horseman if you do not have Xenophage.

Heavy: Xenophage is the best in slot for this encounter. If you don’t have Xeno.

Second Encounter (Atraks-1)

This encounter relies more on ad clear than the previous one, and also requires more burst damage. Atraks-1 is a unique boss that gives you 4 different instances of 3 seconds to damage him.

Kinetic: Heritage (If you don’t have it, any Shotgun or Sniper will suffice.)

Energy: Ikelos SMG (But anything that uses primary ammo is good.)

Heavy: Lament (It has INCREDIBLE burst damage that is required for this boss since you have a very short amount of time to damage.) If you don’t have Lament, any Sword will be good enough.

Third Encounter (Nuclear Descent)

For this encounter, ad clear is the only thing that matters. There is no DPS, despite Tankis roaming the area and shooting at you and trying to stomp you. There are Overloads in this encounter so keep that in mind.

Kinetic: Witherhoard (Ads only come out of 5 doors with 1 on the left, 1 on the right, and 3 in the middle. Having Witherhoard sitting in front of their doors is huge.)

Energy: Ikelos SMG (Again, any primary will do the trick, Ikelos is just best in slot.)

Heavy: Falling Guillotine (Any sword will work though, you just need it for captains.) You can also use Anarchy in this slot if you don’t have the Witherhoard. It’s a great DoT option but doesn’t allow for the use of a sword with it, that is the only downside to it.

Final Encounter (Taniks the Abomination)

This encounter has some ad clear but the main focus is DPS. I’m going to cover the loadout of a player doing damage to the boss, but it should be said that one of your teammates MUST use the Divinity. It provides extra damage and a HUGE crit spot for your team to hit, which is nice with the weapons you will be using.

Kinetic: Heritage (Double slugs is the DPS meta, and this is the only Legendary Kinetic Slug Shotgun.) If you do not have this, then Chaperone is a solid replacement.

Energy: First In, Last Out (Best Energy Slug, has Auto-Loading and Vorpal.) If you don’t have this, Bonechiller from Europa is a solid option.

Heavy: Anarchy (DoT while you switch between two slug shotguns, you can’t beat that.) If you cant use Double Slug + Anarchy, you can use Xenophage, One Thousand Voices, or even a Cloudstrike.

The Deep Stone Crypt is a fantastic raid that I have been enjoying over the past few months. Over this time, I have learned what works and what doesn’t. I understand that this may be silly to post so late into the season, but if this helps someone with their last-minute raiding that justifies in my eyes.
